Are you safe at the dentist during COVID-19?

Are you safe at the dentist during COVID-19?

Your safety and our safety is paramount. That is why Bow Lane Dental is constantly investing in the latest equipment for cross infection control. During these unprecedented times, going to the dentist will feel vastly different than it has in the past, but we are here to make you feel comfortable and at ease whenever you come to visit us.

Patient pre-screening

Before your appointment you will be sent a questionnaire and be asked about COVID-19 symptoms and your risk group.

Emergency and pain appointments prioritized

We will triage you to make sure the post urgent are seen first. Please come alone to your appointment unless you need a parent or guardian as a chaperone.

Online consultations

To save you having to travel in to see a dentist, we now offer video and telephone consultations.

Temperature check

We will use a digital, touch-less. automatic scanner upon arrival to check your temperature. All of our clinicians undergo a COVID-19 antibody test weekly. This way we can keep an eye on the health and wellness of both our staff and patients. Please remember to arrive on time to your appointment so you can be escorted to your appointment straight away. We also have hand sanitising stations and gel around the building.

Anti-bac

Instruments

Where possible we use single use disposable instruments but for some procedures it is impossible. This is where we follow CQC and BDA Good practice guidance. Instruments are in a sealed bag and unwrapped in front of you. A sealed bag indicates that the instruments have been sterilized - or in dental terms, autoclaved - by a machine. We use the Melag Vacuum autoclave with double-wall sterilization chamber as used in the large hospitals. They have integrated software to make sure every sterilized instrument is correctly stored, labelled and able to be traced, providing safety for the dentist and for the patients. As well as this, we have a central sterilization room that is dedicated to the disinfection of instruments.

Team personal protective equipment

The Bow Lane clinical team will be wearing masks, gloves and face shields at all times.

Dentists in PPE

Pure water at the Dentist

London tap water is not pure enough, even in EC4. We have installed a CleanCert Reverse Osmosis 5 stage filtration system to remove 99.98% of impurities from the mains water. The process forces water through specialized membranes and exerts pressure on it to remove foreign contaminants, solid substances, large molecules and minerals. The water is then used for all our sterilisers and water for the treatment rooms. We can guarantee consistently high quality water.

Digital X-Rays

We exclusively use digital x-rays with only 10% of the radiation of the previous ones and can even produce 3D images of your teeth showing us what is going on and how best to treat it. The safety of our patients is paramount.
