Researchers in Taiwan have produced a sensor that can be embedded into your teeth to alert your dentist to what is happening in your mouth.
The sensors in your teeth uses motion to detect which activity is being performed and can record when you eat, drink, smoke and clean your teeth. This data can then be sent to your dentist. We can use this data to get a better picture of our patient’s habits and therefore prescribe bespoke ways they could improve their health.
This may be the precursor to different dental insurance tariffs depending on your oral habits. Brush twice a day use interdental aids and no fizzy drinks and you may get a lower premium.
The future is coming and it involves wearable sensors that feed reel time data to your health care practitioner. You can read the full article here.
